Q&A

Why Baja?

Short answer: time together.

Longer answer: Our friends & family live around the globe, and we don’t get enough time with the people we love (that’s you). Baja gives us what we wanted most: unhurried time together—plus some extra bonuses: mountains, ocean, sunsets, and incredible food.

Can I bring my kids??

Yes! Guests with young children are warmly welcome and we will work to coordinate family-friendly lodging and activities. Please reach out with any questions.

What should I wear/pack?

For the wedding day, we’re calling the dress code “Baja Formal.” If your outfit says, “I could grab tacos after this,” you nailed it. Think light fabrics & bright colors. Swimsuit in lieu of underwear? Encouraged. Jackets/ties optional. It’s the beach, after all!

A note about footwear: Go for comfortable sandals or walking shoes on the ceremony day. There’s a 5-10-minute walk from La Poza Hotel to the sandy beach, and while we love a good stiletto, this beach does not.

For everything else, bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat! It’s hot during the days and could get a little chilly in the evenings, so pack a sweater too. Nights can be cooler, so a light layer is smart.

Do I need to rent a car?

Having a car is a perk, but not a necessity!  Los Cabos airport (SJD) has all the usual rental companies—we’ve had great experiences with Cactus Rentals. Some roads outside of town and to the beaches are dirt roads, so an SUV gives you more options (but not required).

If you’ll only be doing wedding events, you’ll be fine without a car. We’ll share options for booking private shuttles from the airport closer to the date, as well as ways to coordinate carpooling with other wedding guests. All wedding events are within walking distance of the hotel. Downtown Todos Santos and the beach are each about 10–15 minutes on foot.

Heads up: Taxis and rideshares are limited in Todos Santos, so don’t count on them for travel. If you want to explore beyond the wedding events/Todos Santos area, renting a car is your best bet.

Do I need a passport?

Yes! Remember, your passport must be valid for 6 months AFTER your trip. So if yours expires before December 2026 please plan ahead to renew it. If you are a US citizen, you do not need a VISA to visit Mexico (… unless you decide to stay more than 180 days, in which case, we wouldn’t blame you).

Is it safe?

Yes, Baja is safe, and Todos Santos is a big tourist destination. The US Department of State gives Baja a level 2 travel advisory, which is the same as France and Italy. Like with any travel to an unfamiliar place, avoid driving at night and be mindful of your belongings. If you plan to drive all the way to Baja from California, Sandy would like to note to please bring plenty of water and spare tires…

Food and water

The food is really, really good. Todos Santos has both incredible tacos and Michelin-starred farm-to-table restaurants. Tap water at the recommended hotels and restaurants is safe to drink. In more casual settings, bottled water is the way to go. Partake in street food at your own risk (you’ve been warned), though it’s usually worth it!

Cash and ATM's

Credit cards / Apple Pay are widely accepted; however, we recommend getting about $50-100 of cash in Mexican pesos once you arrive at the airport. If you rent a car, you will need cash for the toll road. We recommend taking money from the airport ATM (the most reliable option). There are ATM’s in Todos Santos, too.

Will my phone work? Is there WiFi?

Many US cell phone carriers provide free roaming in Mexico, and many include coverage in Mexico as part of their normal plans. We had good service all the way from the airport to Todos Santos. The hotels and many cafes/ restaurants have free WiFi (but it can be slower than in the US… you should be at the beach anyway!).
